'. gmiwhich as usual were 1 -.- . V. , ,_._ _.....,-_.._.. KIBS a naz: us: The showing of horses at the ‘Kings County Exhibition. at George- town, on Wednesday, was very cred- itable. The general purpose and carriage and heavy draft classes had a. number of outstanding eni- mnls,.and there was very keen com- petition in mares with foal at foot. Mr. Reagh Horne was the Judge. The beef cattle, which were judg- ed by Mr. W R. Shaw, were on the whole of feirquality. The dairy classes, howeve.-, were among the best shown at a George- tdvm fair. Mr. Shaw judged the Ayrshire-s, o.‘ excellent duality. The Grand Champion Fe- male was won by Gavin Reid of Vic- toria Cross, and the Champion Male by George Annear, Lower Montague. The herd prizes went as follows: (l) to Edwin Reid, Rollo Bay. They showed the most uniformity of the class. The herd shown by his bro- ther. Gavin Reid was a close second. The third and fourth prizes were won by George Axmear and William Aitken respectively. ‘The Jerseys, Guernseys and Hol- steins were judged by L. W. Roper. These classes were of very good h quality and special mention is due the Holstein heifer exhibited by Miss Bessie Wood of Rollo Bey West. This heifer, which was the Grand Champion female, was purchased by two years ago and wen many hon- ors in the provincial and county fairs. 1n the Jersey class an outstanding animal was the heifer purchased by Mr Mair of Burnt Point from the Messrs. Clark Bros, North Wilt- shire. The young Guernsey bull owned by Lester Johnson, Fortune Bridge, won the Grand Championship. This bull was purchased by a calf club member and shows excellent quality and type. The classes on the whole were of an average good quality and type, but in some cases they lacked finish. A Jersey bull exhibited by E. H. Bulpitt 8s Son, Roscneath, won first prize at this fair and also in his class at the Provincial Exhibition. The swine, sheep and poultry on the whole made up a‘ splendid ex- hibit. The roots, vegetables and flowers were judged by Messrs. Parent and Warren, of the Experimental Farm. The roots especially made an excel- lent showing, the mangles being out- standing. One lot of eight weighed 74 pounds, another 56 pounds. The vegetables were of fine quality and were well selected The same was true of the flowers. The entry of fruit was not large but: the quality on the whole was very satisfactory. They were judged by Mr. Reeves. The exhibit of women's handi- craft, including mam, rugs, etc, and the domestic science exhibits were judged by Miss Haszerd and Miss MacMiilan of the Womens Instit- ute Department, Charlottetown. These exhibits were on the whole highly creditable to the ladies of King's County. Messrs. R. T. Holman Limited. of Charlottetown, showed Enterprise stoves, electric washers and radios through their local agent, Mr. James Easton.
