In the House yesterday Joncas, the mem ber for Gaspe, repudiated the statement in the press that he had turned a supporter of Laurier. He said that he had been a Con- servative for twenty years and would re- Main so, The whole day was spent in committee on resolutions to subsidize the construction of the Hudson Bay Railway, which was agreed to unaniraously. Hugh John Macdouald made an excellent speech, and after sitting down, Hon. David Mills crossed the floor and congratulated him, as also did insny other members, Chief Engineer Perley’s evidence before the ‘Tarte-McGreevy committee is putting au entirely new light upon the case. The bottom has completely dropped out of the charges againet Mr. Perley. The House adjourned to-day until Tues- day next, Monday be a church holiday.
