They will bear com- patison with many of the Normandy eggr and the packing was satisfactory. Several cases found buyers at ten shillings per long hundred. The top price for the best eggs on the market was eleven shillings. If any thing is tu be done with this trade this con- signmeut should be followed up at once, as prices will be high from now til! after Christ mas. — Ottawa Notes. Ortawa, Oct. 21. The master of the American schooner George Wilfred, ashore at Lockeport, N. S., has received special permission to sell her cargo of fish, although the schooner has no license. Entries for the Jamaica Exhibition have been received from fifty cities and towns of Canada, every province being represented. The Minister of Marine has a report from Glace Bay that the Government steamer Napoleon III, now ashore there, will be got off without serious damage. The exports from Ottawa to the United States for the last quarter aggregate two million dollars Mr. Laurier will shortly start on a lec- turing tour of the Maritime Provinces. Several papers are advocating that the next redistribution of electoral districts be made by legal experts. It is suggested in amendinent that it be relegated to Medical or Ecclesiastical authorities An Explosion. CampsBi.ton, N. B., Oct. 21. An unaccountable explosion of thiee bbls. of black varnish and two kegs of powder occurred in the I. C. R. freight shed at this place yesterday, J. H. Mowatt was blown through the doorway and badly in- jured, but it is thought he will recover. Five others were less seriously injured. The freight shed and adjoining buildings were partly damaged, and there was con- siderable loss to goods. The fire was pre- vented from coing further damage by the efforts of the I. C.
