Q. 0. who is representing the Crown in this case, Mr. Plant said that in his opinion the fire had started at ceiling level at the in- tersection of the main building and the annex, in the north east corner. In the morning the meeting opened with the reading of the minutes by the secretary. Norman Ford. Miss 'Mary McLure, the pres- ident of the local Association, gave an inspirational address, em- phasizing the fact that though the teaching profession was not very well paid, it was a very important profession nevertheless. She re- viewed the activities of the year. and cited two important results of the Federation's efforts, an increase in teachers” salaries. and an im- provement. in the pension plan. Local supervisor, Mr. speaking particularly to new teachers. He gave them a helpful talk on procedure, stressing the importance of the three P's. pat- lence, punctuality. and persever- ance. Mr. Malcolm Macxenzic. chief supervisor for Prince Edward Island. spoke on the new course of studies, which is just off the press, and will be distributed to the teacliers as soon as possible, He mentioned several new books that are on the course this year, and explained why the new 'gcogi'aphy text has not been put on the auth- orized list as yet. It will be in the hands of the teachers this year. and they are expected to inform the Department of Education of their opinions of the new text.
