the Ministerial Association yesterday
morning at the Y.M.C.A., the fol-
lowing resolution was‘unanimously
passed. Whereas. it has been public-
ly announced that the Federal Gov-
ernment will inaugurate a Parcel
post System in Canada early in 1914,
And Whereas, we are anxious, as to
the result should Canada allow in-
toxicating liquors to be carried by
DHFCGI Dost: Therefore Resolved, that
we urge upon the Government the
adoption of a regulation similar to
that which has been adopted by the
United States, to the efiect that in-
toxicn/ting liquors be forbidden con-
veyance in Cannda’s Parcel Post

OPEN AIR RINK.-The young of
the city are anxiously- enquiring
whether the open air rink. in Victor-
ia Paris that gave such general sat-
isfaction last. winter is again to be
opened and when. It will be recol-
lected that numbers of children of
all ages enjoyed this sport last
winter and one of the hopes at the
opening of the present season was
that privilege would agaiube en-
joyed this winter. It is hoped that
the city fathers will take the mat-
ter into consideration at once for the
benefit of the many who are unable
toktake advantage of the regular
rin .
A BIG MAN.-The Presbyterian
Church in Canada is rich in men of
organizing ability. The new secre-
tary of the Board of Finance is the
most recent example, The Rev.Robt:rt
Laird, of Kingston, is yet one more
of the bright young men from Nova
Scotia, which is the cradle of so
many of Canada's big men. Mr.
Laird sustains the tradition lor the
province, for he is big in every
sense of the word. He has minister-
ed at Campbellford, N. B.; Brock-
ville, Ont.; and Vancouver. In 1905
he was appointed to the chair of
practical theology in Queen's Univer-
sity, one more notable contribution
from the premier maritime province
to the educational life of the Domin-
ion, The Presbyterian describes him
as being "n horn organizer, and
abundantly endowed with the grace
of perseverance." At the Finance
Board, he will have scope for the
exercise of his ability as an organi-
zei~_ The Presbyterian Church is for-
tunate in its Possession of men of
the type of Robert Laird. Incident-
