ARTS/ENTERTAI N MENT The band, The Web, played to a small but enthusiastic crowd last Thursday, October 2nd. They played songs from The story thus far: Danny and Bernie are work- ing buddies. They’re just a couple of wild and crazy guys out to meet some girls and do the things that bad little 24- year-olds do. Debbie and Joan are a couple of roommates, intent on netting themselves some great-looking guys. Un- fortunately, this only appears to work for Debbie, who gains increasing interest in Danny. First they are lovers; then they’re in love. What happens next is what you pay five bucks for. I like the movie, but it didn’t climax too clearly (un- like the actors). It was all boy- girl conflict in a starting rela- tionship. Humour (mainly created by Bernie and Joan) = October 9, 1986 THE WEB a lot of well-known groups such as the Eurythmics, B-52’s, Simple Minds, The Clash, and Pet Shop Boys to mention a few. The response of the carried the movie through. Guys, if you like a movie with a pretty girl, and girls, if you like a movie with a handsome guy, and if you like lots of hot, crowd was good, but more people should have come to hear this excellent band. The members, Holly Derby- shire — lead vocals, Kris Abbott — back-up vocals, Gary Orme — drums, Dave Walker — bass guitar, John Radul — keyboards and vocals, have a lot of enthusiasm. They respond to the crowd very well changing or adding any songs to their playlist. The two new members, Dave and Gary, have been with the Web ap- proximately a year. They joined soon after the band’s per- formance at UPEI last year. All the members have high expectations of the group’s future. Later this year, they plan to have an EP recorded. The group finds their own songs go over quite well and expect the EP to be successful. CIMN will soon be receiving some promotional songs from the Web which will definitely be played on the air. The Web originated about 3 years ago. They started out playing part-time in small clubs in Toronto. Since then they have increased their cir- cuit in the Maritimes now playing full-time. They have played in the States, the upper parts of Maine. The band would like to play other places steamy sex scenes this movie is for you. It has a nice under- lying idea, but unfortunately appears to bea sex film. RATING: *** GEM film rating guide: in the States perhaps going down into South Carolina and Georgia.
