The greatesi velocity of wind was about thirty-four milesan hour. About eight o'clock last evening rain began to fall, and it had not cleared upto the time of writing. The amount of the rain-fall during the night was three-quarters of an inch. The bar- ometer was extremely low, indeed it has seldom been lower here. A Scorr Act Eptsope.—The St. John Sun says: A good Scott Act story comes from Sussex It is stated that a man who has had some experience in Scott Act matterc bad a little jug of tluid for personal use stowed in Lis waggon and that two lovers of a joke discovered it. They took it away and then approaching the owner, suggested that all three should go and set a drunk. The owner of the jug explained that nobody would give bim any liquor for fear of trouble. One of the jokers was confident that be could geta bottle filled if they would al! “go snooks.” They did, and he went.
