New Treatment of Alumina. A remedy for one of the chief ob- stacles to the general use of aluminum the oxidizing of the syrface, has been found by Professor Gotting of the Ber- lin Artillery and Engineering Academy. yYhe aluminum is dipped into a diluted «-lution of certain salts, that are not made public, which turn the surface into a brown substance of great resist- ing power, resembling Japanese bronze.
