' in lhe report of the engineer it was pointed out that it would be unsound or wasteful for the Mari- time Electric Company to build a line betwren Surnmerside and Mt. Pleasant as it would parallel and duplicate, at least. in part, the lines which the town of summerelde now has between these two points. The "report stated that the Mari- time Electric Company has com- pleted a 33.000 volt. transmission line from its generating station in Charlottetown lo the Airport at St Eleanors and that this line passes Summerside at ashort distance north of the town. ' It is proposed that a connection be made between the 33,000 volt transmission line of the Maritime Electric and the main switchboard of the Summerside deisel electric generating station so that the Mar- ltlme Electric Company may feed into the system of the town of Sum- merside at this point power and energy equal to that which it takes out of the system of the town of Summarside at Mt. Pleasant. For the use of the town of Summer- side lines the company would pay a charge which has been termed a "wheeling charge” and would amount to approximately i 1-! cent per kilowat hours delivered at Mt. Pleasant. After some discussion on the report. of the engineer the follow- ing resolution was moved by Councillor Donald Lidstone and seconded by Councillor W. E. Jon. kins and passed: "whereas the Maritime Electric Company is desirous of making an adjustment in their rates to cus- tomers located in the western part of Prince County, and whereas this may best be accomplished if these customers are served from the Maritime Electric Cosnpenyls own supply system, and whereas under the existing arrangement the necessary energy is being pur- chased from the Town of Burn- merside lines at Mt. Pleasant; be it therefore resolved that the Town of Summerside enter into an agreement with the Maritime El- ectric Company to the effect that the required energy may be trans- ierred irom the high power line presently serving the R. C. A. F. station over the town-owned line to Mount. Pleasant." Mayor Wedge in commenting on the proposed agreement stated that although it would mean a loss of about 83000.00 to the town it would afford the town full pro- tection in case of power failure at the Summer-side plant which could draw on the power of the Mari- time Electric Company in case of such an emergency. He further stated that such an arrangement would stave off the purchase of another motor at the Summerside plant for another year. Egg lirolessional Dania E. E. Parkman 0pt..D..
