Sister is writing you about the ill
ness and death of your boy, but I
thought you would like to know the
details of his funeral. He was buried
on June 6th at 2 o'elock in the after-
noon with a'lI the honors glvou to a
gallant soldier in time of war. No
coffin is used nt the front but instead
a plaid or blanket is sewn around tile
body by a soldier‘s hand. and over all
the Union Jack is spread. He was
borlle out of the hospital oll a little
funeral car. wheeled by his comrades.
At the graveside the flag was removed
and six of these comrades lowered his
body into the ground. Then,we un-
covered our lloads and I conducted s
simple Scottish service. After tllo
Benedlction the Corporal gave com-

mend and we all came tel-the ahllite.
lt was our last tribute of respect to
your son ere we turned away. V Sofws
left him sleeping in the little'Milit_ary
Cemetery. A cross is being erected
to mark the spot and to keep his name
from being forgotten while we can ad-
mir_e a brave lads end and sllo_w_re~
spect to his resting place. In all our
prayers together, we never fordot you
across the sea, and _I pray God in his
love and mercy to. comfort you now.
