by Ed Orlowski . It was a beautiful feeling that seemd to come over the pecple present, almost a lull, when Dr. Peterlbindce lauded Symposium '79 as a event, germinated right here cn UPEI. It painteda beautiful picture in my head of the scope of the human mind. 'lhere is "no final port in the sea of discovery"—and I 7 I believe'that‘ fact keeps the pioneer spirit alive today in men‘of all ages. 'Andlhrk. Iedwell was there to lay the "'IHCUGiT OF SYMPOSIUM '79“ on the table for . . the 'IWelVe ApOstles of Truth. I could picture in my mind Mark standing there gaitly holding a page of the history of UPEI. and through his words to us, offering us to share it with them. He and his eleven friends had much to give. And they did give it, and we supped of the thoughts given, and the seed of their thought grew in our minds, andwe responded each in our om way. Discovery was born anew, and our thoughts multiplied. ' 'Jhe guest speaker, Dr: Ieslie Harris, was like a shining star. I watdied people's faces while hewas talking, and I could pidc up that he was impressing them as if "he were talking to each cne separately. It was very relaxing; I could pick up no tension whatever, but perhaps some shyness. All present seemed to be‘beating as one large heart, all with the thought of the beat of unity. I know that I can only speak for myself and that ead'l and every person would paint a different picture, but what I saw, I liked. What I learned, I-cherish. . A silent thanks to nameless hands, and miles of footwork invole in giving US, Symposium '79. Some talked and flogged the horse to death before the race had even started, and they did not even shm up at their symposium... Others just let it die in their minds, not even allowing it to take me breath. - A non-attendant said, "Wmder if there is a lunch being served at noon. Let's go and see." It was a great honour for the Kleaner to have had the experience of attending the opening of Synposium '79. . All the world was \a stage. The world of my mind was listening to the goings on of Symposium '79, and some of the thoughts that I personally gleaned and-thought of were and are as follows: Who is the pupil?.. .A soul trying to consciously find itself. ‘ Who is the teacher?. . . . .‘I'ne physical world about us. What is the faculty?. . . . .A scholarly community of scholars. Who is the leader?. . .. .A master scholar, not a master of scholars. . What is learning?. . .. .A life of experience, not a life of existence. _ . What is discover‘y?. . . . .Questioning scholarly answers, not answering them. What is the process?. . . . .Ideas discovered rather than mundane contents. What is the goal?. . . . .Scholarly mind consciousness, not closed debate. What is the Multiversity?. . . . .Whatever Shekels of consciousness we choose to bind it . with. What is the price?. . . . .Dedication to the level ‘of consciousness reached by life's end. Who is the stage set for?. . .. .YOU. ‘ What is the electric eel of decision?. . . . .The dollar of materialism.- I paint not anyone with the same brush, nor do I tie the shoes of those who wear boots. If we had a stack of one hundred dollar bills about a foot high, give or take of two, and wanted to find out how many of them we had, and how much we had to deposit in the bank, you would probably say, "Silly one, all you have to do is count each and every one, then make a tally sheet, and then deposit the money in the bank," and I would probably say, "Ya, that's right." So too, I believe that this University is small enough that the unofficial totals should be brought into being by all the students, that ALL, 1,365 - students, that are full time, ALL 731 registered part time students, and any others interested in giving an honest opinion. That would give you your introspective analysis. .0 Ff\ £491., KLéfiNE‘RS I FOR THOSE ON WITH EXAMS NEARING 1..--....--..- This is the official Kleaner's Korner Panic Button 2 “ ‘ Cut: and hang , on 'your “wall, .
