We rally round the Union Jack, the flag our fathers bore, On many a famous battlefield in glorious days of yere, W ith firm resolve, that vandal hands shal! never haul it down, The banner bright of Great Britain, eo flooded with renown. Hurrah! hurrah! the flag men free! Hurrah! hburrag! the star of liberty! We’ll sing our British war songs From Cape Town to “Zambe.’’ that makes While sweeping through Africa,—- When the bugle biasts were sounded and call was made, to arms!” We warned out frem our workshops and trundied in from farms To prove to Mother Eugland and show the waichiog world That the Empire 1s woited when war flags are unfurled. With Buller’s British bull-doge we will aweep the darkest land And do our duty bravely, gallant Otter in command. And when the war is over, there’ll be liberty and light, While burghers bold wi)! learn to koow how “niggers white” can fight. They may stea) the Zulu’s cattle and take the Kaftir’s sheep, But our Maxims and our rifles them fast asleep, And when the Boers, with pious cant, hear the cannoo0u’s thuader boom, They wil! realize the coming of the day of deathly doom. will lull So we ge ivto the battle without a single doubt ; “For the Empire and the Flag” is the slogau we will shout, And the foes will find Dominion boys full worthy of the pame— No matter what our race may be, we’re British all the same, Sr 2 ——— Nowadays when women are trying to doeverything it is not strange that many things are over-done. It is not strange that there are all kinds of physical and mental disturbances. If the woman who is @ doctor, or a lawyer, or a journalist, or in business would not trv to be a soiety woman too it might be different; but the woman who koows when she bas done a day’s work has yet to be born. Usually & woman’s way is to keep doingupti! she drops. Working ia this way has mani- fold evils. The most common trouble re-~ sulting from over exerticn, either mentally or pbysicially, is ccnstipation of the bowels, with al! its attendant horrors.
