The re- forms needed in Asia Minor necessitate the ae oe of a master mind, and he is credited with having received the appoint- ment. Tue London Times says the recent rise in cotton in Liverpool is a godsend to that long- suffering centre of commercial inactivity. But for this relief there must have been a crash, and nothing more opportune has happened in vommercial affairs for a long time. While the rise is only temporary, it enabled banks and speculators to escape a perilous position, and has averted a collapse otherwise inevitable. Six DEaTHS IN ONE Famity,—A short time ago the deaths by diphtheria were reported of three children in the family of Mr. Matthew Ferguson, of flammond, King’s County. Since then three more ef his children have succumbed to the fearful disease ; six children carried off from May 24th to June 7th, leaving only the father and mother to mourn over a desolate hearthstone.--St, John Sun. A ¥icuT originated on Dorchester Street yesterday evening. After the belligerents had pummeled each other considerably, the police arrived and arrested one of the party. He refused to go and resisted all the efficers en- deavors totake him. He was at length carried bodily by four of the police, and a crowd of ever two hundred spectators followed them to the station. A street brawl is a novelty in this quiet City. Tue Winnipeg Weekly Times,—a large eight-page paper—and a good Liberal Con- servative organ is issued, postage paid, at ene dollar per year. Mr. Theo.
