But it was blessed with men of scholarly at- tainments that would have graced far larger colleges. men like the 86-year-old Father Terence Camp- bell who was present at the dinner. "We sing a song of gratitude". said the Cardinal, "we have abundant reason to thank God for the story of this institution." In Marshfield. as else- where in Canada, the division in the Church in the old country was reflected in the establishment of a Free church" congregation; thus for a brief period there was more than one Presbyterian church here. Among the ministers of St. Col- umbs Church in the following years were Rev. William MacLar- en. who in 1867 was appointed to the St. Peter's Road and Brackley Point Road (Harrington) Church- scrved the spiritual needs of the community. Many. who through the years were faithful fnembers and adherents are buried in the beautiful little cemetery around the church, but their descendants. along with other families who are comparatively newcomers to the district, faithfully carry on their Master's work.
