N pursuance of the Act of the General As- sembly ofil_iis Island, made and passed in the Seventh ear oft'heReIgn of His late Majesty King William the earth, intituled flit Act for levying an flssessmcnt an ill Lands in this Island-I do hereby publicly notify the Ownei or Occupiors of Land within this Island, for which the annual Assessment, charged thereon by the laid reelted Act, of Four Shillings, lawful money of this island, for every Hundred Acres of wilderness or unim- proved Lands contained in the several Townships, and the several Islands belonging thereto; and the sum of Two Shillings for every Hundred Acres of cultivated or Improved Land in the said several Townships and Is- lands as aforesaid ; and the sum of Four Shillings for each and every uncultivated or unimproved Town Lot, Pasture Lot, Common Lot and Water Lot, granted in the Town and Royalty of Charlottetown ; and the sum of Two Shillings for each and ever cultivated or improved Town, Pasture, Common, and ater Lot as aforesaid ; and the sum of Two shillings and eight-pence for each Ind_every Town Lot, Pasture Lot, and Water Lot, grant- ed. in the Towns and Ro alties of Georgetown and Princetown ; andtbe sum 0 One shilling and four-pence for each and every cultivated or improved Town, Pas- ture, and Water Lot, granted in the said last-mentioned Towns and Royalties, and so in proportion for a less quantity ; and the sum of One penny per acre on each and every acre of cultivated or improved Land in the Royalt ofGeorgetown, called reserved Lands ; and the sum 0 Two-pence per acre on each and every acre of such Lands 515 may be deemed uncultivated or unimpro- ved Lands, is payable, that unless the Assessment for the , current year be paid into my hands, or the hands of my Deputies, on or before the Twenty-second of December, 1840, I shall, on the last day ofthe next Hilary Term, at Charlottetown, make Proclamation of all such Lands as shall then be in arrear for non-payment of the sums charged thereon, agreeably to the directions ofthe said Act. It contains 434 acres ofthe best descrip- tion ofLand in this Island, having abundance of Fire- wood, pine, spruce and ftucing poles. Fifty acres are under cultivation, and in the best condition, and Twenty additional acres are enclosed Of natural pasture, which could be easily cleared for the plough, the growth of wood being only young bushes. The whole is well fenced, and there are gates on every enclosure, as well as the court-yard. The House is very comfortable for a small family, and contains kitchen, small parlour, good bedroom, servant’s sleeping room, closets, and a cellar underneath. This expe- diiipus mode of conve ones will, doubtless, bring to their shores a number ofyindividuals in search of health- ful and fertile locations; and the Advertiser, therefore, solicits such persons. having agricultural views, to visit Prince Edward Island, so justly styled by writers “ The Granary of British Jl‘brt‘h flmcrica." It is situated in the Gulph of St. Lawrence, and is only two days’ travel by Coach and Steambdat from Halifax, N. S. This Colony, with respect to salubriiy of climate, fertility of soil,and excellent waters, is second to few, if any, in the British Dominions. on emigrating, may here purchase wilderness lands from 15s. (025s, per acre; or improved Farms, in dif- ferent sections ofthe Island, at from £2 to £6 er acre, according to situation, and the value of the uildings erected upon the property. The soil of this Island pro- duces nearly all kinds ofgrain, hay and vegetables; and cattle, as well as agricultural implements, suitable to the Colony,can be obtained at moderate prices.
