All UPEI students who have paid their CARI Access Fee can now take part in all programs at the CARI pool, such Free Swims, Lane Swims, AquaFit, AquaJog, etc. (with the exclusion of Swimming Lessons and DiaperFit). International Student Connections Program The Student Union and the ISCP are looking for students who are interested in becoming a “buddy” for a new In- ternational Student. The meeting will take place in KCI Room 128 from 3 to 4 p.m. The INKredible Recycling Program It is the beginning of a new year, a new semester, and new endeavours for all of us. The UPEI Environmental Society is initiating an ink cartridge recycling program for all students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors. Our mission is to help the environment and needy animals at the P.E.I. Humane Society through simple actions like dropping off used cartridges in collection boxes on. campus instead of tossing them away. The collected cartridges will be donated to the P.E.I. Humane Society who has entered an environmentally. friendly agreement where they will receive a cash reimbursement for each used cartridge collected. Graduate Student Research Workshops Jan. 31 & Feb. 8 Two Graduate Student Research Workshops have been scheduled: Preparing Ethics Applications will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 31 in the AVC Faculty Lounge. Federal Election 2006- Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada Survey Results The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) Web site provides information on higher education as well as news and views about the federal election campaign. It includes the responses of the four main federal parties to the AUCC sutvey that was sent out in December 2005 requesting their views on the critical issues of higher education and research. The survey contained eight questions covering policies for post- secondary education investments in four critical areas: capacity and quality; affordability, outreach and support; international education; and graduate studies and research.
