CIMN RADIO The Island's Only Alternative Situated on the 3rd floor of the Barn, CIMN Radio is broad- casting thanks to 55 volunteer DJ’s. These DJ’s are students of UPEI, representing all faculties and some clubs and sports teams. Without the time and effort they put into their shifts, CIMN Radio would not be able to broadcast. At this time, our hours are Qam-12 midnight seven days a week. On campus, it can be tuned into on 700am and off- campus, on 102.3fm cable. In 1987-1988,. CIMN was plagued with technical difficulties throughout the year. This year, CIMN is now heard in the Pit of the Robertson Library. This has been described as “NOT HOT” in the last issue of the GEM, but WE feel that it adds to the re- laxing atmosphere of this social- izing area. Many students have commented on the programming and the availability of CIMN in the pit. I thank those students who let us know how they feel. It’s easy to complain about some- thing, and so much more difficult to praise, but it allows us to know that our work is appreciated. A note on our programming format. Each DJ can choose the music they play in their shift. Be- cause of this, the diversity of mu- sic is vast; the listening audience is able to hear many forms of music such as European, heavy metal, blues, jazz, top 40, and alternative music from today’s “music scene” as well as from the past. There have been = several bands which have been featured on student radios across Canada which have gone on to be quite successful (ie. the Northern Pikes and the Grapes of Wrath). CIMN is proud that we can offer new tal- ent to our audience. Our Top 25 is featured each week in the GEM. This list is compiled (by our Music Director) from the DJ playlists. Phoned-in requests will influence this list, so feel free to call in for your favorite songs at * 566-0417* CIMN is UPEI’s radio sta- tion. We support all faculties, teams and clubs.
