Rails made their best advance in more than three months with gains of fractions among the leaders. Steels, motors and oils shared in the forward movement with advan- ces running from fractions to more than 2 points. The rally broke a week-long per- iod of dullness marked by n low volume of trading and small price changes. Volume was 1.010.000 shares, a considerable jump from yesterday's 630,000 and the best since Feb. 7. At Montreal MONTREAL, March 11—(CP)—A few resistant spots were noted among papers and utilities in bear- ish slow dealings on tho Montreal stock exchange and curb market to- day. A handful of penny losses were well distributed among slow-mov- inlZ mines. ' Of 157 issues traded, 42 were un- changed, 53 easier and 62 unchang- ed. Two new highs and 12 new lows were established. Closing averages indicated papers had gained 3.87, but utilities dipped 0.1, banks .05 and golds 0.4, while industrial remained unchanged at 121.7. Total turnover was approximate- ly 105,500 industrial and 128,500 mining shares, against respective totals of 56,800 and 187,200 shares the previous session. At Toronto TORONTO, March 11- (CP)—-A few bright spots developed in an otherwise dull session on the Tor- onto stock exchange today. Gold mining issues with property in the Red Lake area of Northern Ontario were in demand for moder- ate gains. Campbell Red Lake, n subsidiary of Dome Mines, led the advance in early dealings on a 50- cent gain at a new high at $3.75, but dipped under profit-taking to $3.45, ahead 20 cents from yester- day. The mine is scheduled to start production at the end of the month when the mill is expected to be completed. ‘ I Mining (Canadian Press] TORONTO, March 11- Saies Stock 2000 AP Con 3000 Am Yknlfe .. 3500 Amicon .. 6650 Anglo Cdn .. 3000 Am: Rouyn 4000 Apex 1000 Arion 4000 Ashley . 1000 Atlantic Oil .. 70 5000 Athena 11 3500 Aumaque 21 75 Bk 0f lVIOIit 25 1-8 10 Bk 0i’ NS .. 34 7-3 6000 Base Met 33 1-2 2000 Bevcourt 22 3400- Bidrzood 10 1-4 1000 ‘Bobjo . 12 1500 Boycon . 03 1-3 9468 Boymar 43 420 Bralorno .. 395 37500 Brewla . . 07 1500 Brit Dom 23 4800 Buffad . 16 1-4 1000 Buff Ank 225 500 Buff Cdri 15 3000 Buff RI ..
