From all parts of the Province affected by the high freshets the report is received that the water is rapidly falling. On the line of the New Brunswick railway the public will be gratified to learn that the water has fallen to such an extent as to cause no further interuption to travel and that commeucing this morning the regular train service will be resumed. At Fredericton the water has fallen 2} feet. There will be gas to-morrow night and the waterworks engine will be able to start up in a day or two. —— — Protesting against O'Brien. Toronto, May 15. About 15,000 people gathered in Queen's Park yesterday at a public meeting, called to protest against Wm. O’Brien’s mission to Canada. The meeting was one of the most orderly and enthusiastic ever held in this city. The resolutions were carried unani- mously. O'Brien is expected here to- morrow and will lecture in the open air on Tuesday afternoon, his friends having been unable to procure a hall. A serious riot is feared. Pictou Strike Ended. Havrrax, May 15. The strike of the Pictou coal miners has finally ended in a compromise, the men agreeing to accept a reduction of 6 cents a ton in wide working place and _ thirteen cents in narrow ones. The miners at Re- serve mine, near Sydney, are out on a strike for an increase of three cents a ton, and fears are felt of a general strike at the Cape Breton mines. Turkish Affairs. CONSTANTINOPLE, May 15. Sheikh Abin Houda has been exiled from Turkey for conspiring to dethrone the Sultan. He was for a long time an intimate adviser of the Sultan. Drowning Accident.
