SPECIAL DESPATOHES TO THE EXAMINER. Charges Against Haggart -_— The Tarte-McGreevy Reports. Orrawa, Sept. 23. In the House of Commons yesterday Lister preferred charges against Hon. Mr. Haggart, \‘ostmaster-General, of having been interested in the contract for the con- struction of Section B of the C. P. R., while a member of the House, and that the con- tractors subscribed largely to political purposes— Lister wili to-day move that these charges be investigated by special committee which the Government will probably resist. It is twelve years since the affair accurred. It has already been the subject of inquiry. Haggart has twice already denied the truth of the charges, and they will keep very well for six months till next session. The debate on the Tarte-McGreevy report was continued by Coatsworth who spoke three houre in favor of adopting the majority report, Davies followed, moving in amendment the adoption of the minority report. Dickey made a magnificient reply to Davies and Amyot moved the adjournment of the debate ut half-past one. The Strike at Ottawa. Orrawa, Sept. 23. Sr. Joun, Nfld., Sept. 21.—The bank fishing this year will not wind up well. Several vessels of late have been making poor trips. The shore fishing on the whole has been good, and the Labrador fishery the best for many years. Had the popu- lace of Labrador recovered from the epi- demic of grip in time to take advantage of the plentitude of fish the catch would bo unprecedented. The sea harvest on the whole will be very good. Of course this will be denied by parties interested in keeping up the price of fish in foreign mar- kets, for they invariably represent the fish- eries as poor and resent the publication of favorable accounts as calculated tu depress prices. Bermupba, Sept 21.—A terrible storm has been raging here since yesterday morn- ing, dcing a great deal of damage locally.
