gs UPEI news The Cadre + 15 September 1998 UPEISU 1998-1999 The 1998/99 executive of the UPEI Student Council is fresh, caring and, above all else, committed to the students of UPEI. We will try our best to give the students we are working for memories that will endure. Without a doubt, communication is an essential component of making everyone’s university experience fulfilling and memorable. Matt Gray, the President and voice of this year’s Student Union for UPEI, along with the rest of your Student Union, is absolutely committed to enhancing communication on campus. Tyler Dougan, our VP Operations, is the one responsible for organizing social events on campus. He does this with a single goal in mind : bringing students closer together. The band Kilt, which played last Thursday night at The Barn, was a phenomenal success. New students to UPEI, as well as returning students, had a wicked time. This event is just a taste of what Tyler has to offer us this year. The rumours are true: the biggest concertevent this campus has ever seen goes down on September 23, with Tyler bringing Big Sugar to ourcampus. Special guests, The Matthew Good Band and Pluto, will also be playing at the Sports Centre. Tickets are now on sale at the Barn, with the special price of $12.00 for all UPEI students. He has been organizing the event throughout the summer, so we need your support to make it shine. The VP Internal, Pauline Tran, is mobilizing our sub-organizations to ensure all of their needs are addressed. Pauline is working hard to make sure students are provided with easy access to current and relevant information, with the student newspaper being but one example of the efforts Pauline assists. The position of VP External, held by Steve Hann, is an important resource for all students. As our public relations person for UPEI, he is contacting other schools with the intention of sharing information and ideas. If we experience difficulty in warts particular problem, Steve is a great asset since he can get in touch with other schools that may have had to deal with similar circumstances. Finally, the financial wizardry of Stephen Lewis, our VP of Finance, is what makes all of our efforts for students possible. He finds the cash to allow us to succeed with our initiaves. He is also the person who keeps us all grounded. Get in touch and get involved with your Union -- we want to hear from you!
