The play was writ- by Mr. Lindley, and he states was built for the purpose of c alling attention to the peril incurred ly sailors through the cup- idity of vessel owners who send rotten hulks to sea, little caring for the lives of men, so that they may reap their reward at the insurance offices. The plav is cer- tainly an interesting one, and was well put on by Mr. Lindley’s company. Lindley, as Tony Edmunds, who, having failed to fair. lassies of the village, went tu sea, was the life of the whole affair, and kept the audience in a continual roar of laughter, especially while sea-sick in mid-ocean.
