Besides, what I want to say here should be said before the whole university community . This past week—end saw the Newman crew here at UPEI host what was a most remarkable meeting of students from all across the Atlantic Provinces. May— be, one of the UPEI group will report the event in this issue; I'm not sure. In any event, all I want to do here is thank sincerely all of the people involved in making the week—end the success it was. A great deal of work went into the pre- paring of our program. ' Many thanks, the, to the members of the Program Committee whom I shall nOt list by name here. A great deal more work want into the preparations for and the carrying out of the program. Many thanks, then, to our food people, our entertainment people, our speakers, our mu— sicians, our technicians and on; cleaneruppers. If he didn't under- theme'which.one.would harldy think would bring students all the way from St. John's —-"Faith on Campus". Take it from a hardened conference—goer, it was a smashing suceess thank, Mr.,Editor, to those hard—working people whom I wish to address through you. This might ~ sound like a bit of horn— tooting but all of those in- volved in the Conference have shown the other Maritime universities and (one half—hour later) MUN andeCRC in Newfoundland, that UPEI ers can deliver the goods. And all of UPEI should know it. : Finally, a thanks to out President who kindly took time out to welcome our guests. Thanks also to Brian and his helpers of Beaver Foods. Thanks to the Students Union who made the Barn available. And thanks to you, Mr. Editor, for printing such a long letter. Sincerely, Fr. Bathinhléshsma AI'JS‘éi'E'ChfiRESEa NE‘éfl‘ Mfiiihll Dear Cadre, Your article on the v UPEI Photo Club greatly intrigued me. The Photo Club to this date has not accomplished a thing. In conversation with the president of the club I discuSsed that this is. due to the budget not being passed. He as well as the Cadre says that the budget will be dis— cussed at the next Student Council meeting. Is a budget of $1,618. 95 really necessary to take also ‘rudness of some of the l 7 Evelyn Lawrence Letter to Cadre For months we've been 'hearing about the "crises" our student union has been facing. We've heard nu— merous complaints about the general apathy of our stud— ent body. Few of us can see past our small uni— versity campus. As we pour back the beer how may times does the thought of our endangered ecology enter our minds? Better ‘yet, how often do our Congresgirepresentatives - hear our voice? We can't really care about starv— ing children in some un— heard of land, we have enough pn our minds with the poor quality food we are being served at the cafeteria. Haven't we heard this all before? The only time we complain about the steadily increas— ing crime rate is when, our beer gets stolen. from the refrigerator. I, being more than guilty, am going to sit down and wrote a letter, two if I have to. Not only be- cause these problems hit home, but also because I'm beginning to see further then our small "society" at UPEI.
