Scafe of Rldgetown, Ont. __.._- RADIO BROADGASTING.-—Msssrs Burke and Gamer, proprietors of CIISK. radio station, inform flue Guardian that there was no in- tentlonal discourtosy to radio fans ln broadcasting their usual ever.- ing programme on the occasion of the broadcasting of Premier Benhettls speech from Ottawa. Their broad- casting period daily is from 5 p. m. to 7 p. m. and the other broadcasting station has the practical monopoly of the remaining 22 hours. On the day in question CI-IOK was approached two hours before their programme went on the air to withdraw in favor of the Can- adian tie-up for Mr. Bennett. As important advertising contracts had bren undertaken for the entertain- ment in question and no arrange- ments could be made with the con- tractors to give way in the short time in favor of the tie-up, CHCK had reluctantly to decline the Can- adian tic-up. This and no other reason was why CHCK was on the air last Wednesday. If the manage- ment of the Canadian tie-up desires subsequent Imperial speeches to be broadcast during the same period in the future it will bc necessary for them to make arrangements with CI-ICK a reasonable time in advance of the date of the broadcast.
