Death is a heavy blow in all cases. but when it strikes so suddenly, and at a time when least expectedflh-3 shock and sorrow is indeed over- whelming. The death occurred suddenly yesterday at his home. 83 Victoria Avenue of John Henry Mccarvilie at the age of 70. The late Mr. Mc- Carvllle had been in his usual health upon retirement on Saturday evening but paued away in his sleep during the night. Born in Charlottetown he was the son of the late Tllolms and Bridget Mccarvilie and as a yoiuig man went to sea. During World War I he served with the Merchant Navy and at the onclusion of hostilities Joined the Royal Canad- ian Navy from which he retired in 1041 with the rank of chief Petty Officer, thus serving his country in the two major conflicts. The death of Thomas Gm-don Ives, prominent Charlottetown busi- ness man occurred in the P. E. Island Hospital last night after an illness which required hospitaliza- tion in August. He was able to resume business to a lesser extent until a short time ago, when he returned to hospital. Mr. Ives was born at Tryon on May, 28, I885 the son of the late Isaac and Louise Ives. and since i982 has conductcd the T. G. Ives automobilc business in Charlotte- town.
