     The referendum that has 
     
     been called for April 6 and 
     
     7 on whether the Robertson 
     
     Library Lounge should be a 
     
     smoking area or smoke-free 
     
     space is rapidly approaching. 
     
     However, before voting on 
     
     such an one should 
     
     be aware of the possibilities 
     
     that exist if the vote goes 
     
     one way or the other.

     If the Pit area remains a 
     
     smoking area: 
     
    

    
     The Board of Governors 
     
     will look into installing a ven- 
     
     tilation system into the Pit 
     
     at a cost of approximately 
     
     40,000-50,000 dollars. 
     
    
   
   
    
     If the Pit becomes a 
     
     smoke-free space: 
     
    
   
   
    
     There is the possibility 
     
     that that area that is now 
     
     the. Information office, lo- 
     
     cated directly adjacent to 
     
     the Pit, can become a smok- 
     
     The proposal 
     
     would have to go to the 
     
    
   
   
    
     ing area. 
     
    
   
   
    
     Board of Governors for ap- 
     
     proval and such renovations 
     
     to this area would cost ap- 
     
     proximately 1/5 the cost of 
     
     the ventilation system. 
     
    

    
     It should be noted that 
     
     the 
     
     the renovations that 
     
    
   
   
    
     no matter how vote 
     
     goes, 
     
     will occur in either the Pit 
     
     or the Information Office are 
     
     only possibilities. Nothing 
     
     has been guaranteed. The 
     
     Board of Governors wants 
     
     to hear the Student Coun- 
     
     cil’s recommendation on this
