Ont., Free Press of Aug. 6th says: “Yesterday Rev. Aquila and Mrs. Lucas, (who were formerly of this province) 'whose home is one mile from the western boundary of London celebrated the fortieth anniversary of their marriage. Mr. Lucas was a member of the New Brunswick Meth- odist Conference, but during his sec- retaryship in the West Indies and Cen- tral América for the International Sunday School Association, moved from Sackville, N. B. to London. Their tive sons ami six daughters from homes as far west as Idaho, and as fer east as Cape Breton, chose this time for a family reunion and all were present. The daughters are married and some of the grandchildren wore present. The youngest son but one, Corp. Albert E. Lucas, of the A. M. C., is on the eve of departure for the front. Mrs. Lucas is superintendent nf the Sunday School held in the Hut- ton schoolhouse, and the members of that school marked this event by the presentation to her of a beautiful, brooch with suitable settings. The family presents to their parents were practical menientoes to mark this oc- casion. His generous sacrifice of a beautiful home and de- voted wifc and family. When God called him in the prime of life. and the fcrvor of his final preparation. whcn receiving the last sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church both cdified his sorrowing family and friends who surrounded his bedside, and gave promise of a happy eternity. He leaves to mourn besides his wid- ow seven sons and three daughters all in the homestead. also a sister Mrs. M. Walsh, Charlottetown, a step mother and step-sister at home and two step-sisters in United States. His funeral was very largely attended, the Knights of Columbus of which society he was a member besides many friends and acquaintances who esteemed him in life coming from a long distance to pay their last tribute of honor at his grave. Up- on investigation lt was found that this person had sent no such letter. The matters in this letter were of a mili- tary nature and thc writer forged an- other person's name. thereby leaving himself open to serious charges.
