Tickets may be procured from members of the choir. 12 2i. ON Sunday July 15th the church at Pownal which has been closed several weeks forrepairs will be re-opened. There will be three services during the day. At 11 a. rn., the _ Rev. W. J. Howard the pre- sent pastor will take his farewell of the congregation. At 3. p. rn., the Rev. J. W. McConnell, B. A., will preach, and at 7. p m., the new pastor Rev. R. Opie, will preach his first sermon. On July 22nd Rev. J. C. Spurr will preach at 11 a. m. Special collections will be taken at all four services towards the paying of ex. penses. The work is well done, and there is a blending of colours in paper, paint and general finish which produced pleasant effect. The church as it is to-day is pro- nounced by competentjudgesto be among the prettiest country churches on P. E. Island. A very emcient choir, with jMrs. Toombs as organist, added very much to the interest of the services. The .Rev. R. Opie who has had the oversight of the church for four years, said good bye to the congregation, but not farewell as his next field oflabour will be quite- near. A very pleasant and profitable day in the Brackley Point Road Methodist Church, was brought to a close, by singing,“God be with you till we meet again,” and the benediction. ' - IT is with deep pleasure that intelligent Canadians at home and abroad, hear or read of the high attainments of their fel- low-countryman in art, literature, or science and also intelligent Americans, to whom the Canadian people sustain a close sympathetic relation and show a hearty appreciation of the talents and capabili-_ ties of their northern neighbors. No sec- tion of Canada seems to exceed P. IE. Island in the production of talent. Rev. W. P. S. Murray, of Bradalbane receives the degree of M1A.at Bethany College,W. Va., takinga leading place in many of his studies. Mr. Murray graduated from this college last year heading the list of ministerial students, receiving the degree of B. A. Since then he has had_the extra _care and work of a church pastorate. J As previously announced three services were held in the Brackley Point Road Methodist Church last Sunday Mr. H. R. Vessey preached at 11 a. m., the Rev. J. W. McConnell at 3, and the Rev. R. Opie at 7. p. m. The attendence in the afternoon waslessened by the unfavorable state of the weather, but the service was -very much enjoyed by those present. At night the weather had somewhat- improv- ed, and the congregation was larger than the enlarged capacity of thef_'church, and many could not get even] staiiding room in the church. Thecost of enlarging and improving the church is $300.00. The col- lections during the day, nearly met the unprovidecl for deficiency, and after the service in the evening had closed the small balance was promised, :so that the church is free from debt. The following are among the improvements made on the church, viz, Ill; feet added to the -length, additional pews, new platform, desk, chairs, and carpet, aisles matted, walls new lamps, three coats of paint on all the new work inside and outside and two coats of paint on the old work inside and outside. ’ _ MARRIED." l At the manse, Marshfield, on Wednes- Mr. W.
