The statement is false. I fail to see why Mr. Farquharson should misrepresent the meeting. We gave all the speakers a good hearing, but Iam sorry to say that Mr. Farquhareon forgot himself and con- tioually interrupted Mr. McLean a Con- servative speaker. If that is what Mr. Farquharson refers to in his report ofthe meeting, itdoes not reflect much credit on himeelt and will be resented by the eleci- } ors. A Kinocston Liperat. ee A POINTER FOR ELFCTORS. Sirn,—Cicero was what Chriet'an nations cali a pagan or heathen,—yet his cole of ethics wae infinitely super or to that of the Pineau Farquharson Government. In Cicero’s mirror we have a clean image of the present Goverament. Speaking of bribery he say*, it is “a motive that of all Others ie the vilest and most sordid, both with regard to those who are influenced by it, and those who are compelled to resort toit. For it 1s a bad state of things, when that is attempted by money which ought to be effected by virtue.” If Cicero is right the government is io a bad state. Broncwo. STEAM ROLLER, Sirn,—The enggestion in your issue of the 26th regarding # Sieam Roller is well wority of consideration by our city couu- cillors, especially as it is reported that they are now considerivg the parchase of a vew boiler and engine for the stone crusher. I understand that these steam rollers are built purposely for driving stone crushers as well as for roiling, and that they can also be used to tear up old streets when making repairs. If » vew boiler end engine is necessary for the sone crusber I think ‘t wouli be wa good time for the Council to get a modern machi: of this kind which I think everyoue will admit is badly needed ov our STREET?.
