Westminster Abbey on sun- day will be the scene of the main service of thanksgiving for the rc- sovcry of His Majesty. The King _will attend to oder thanks with his 'subjects and Queen Mary and vir- tually the whole royal family will be present. so far as is possible, those in charge of the arrangements have striven to eliminate all ostentatlous ceremony. 'I'he number of reserved seats in the Abbey has been kept at the lowest possible /limit and the neve will be entirely open to the earliest comers. This was tha declaration made by W( U. Appleton, General Manager Atlantic Region at Pictou, when Sir Henry Thorntonwas received here this morning by the town council and representative citizens. It was another one of those .particularly haPPY meetings with the people that Sir Henry has enjoyed throughout his whole tour of the east and chu- actcrlzed his present visit ‘every- where he has gone. T. L. Scott, chief engineer of the Brotherhood of Loc- omotive Eagineers, conveyed to the president of the national system the good will and cooperation of railway men. He said he saw all throughout the road among the trainmen the ever increasing desire to give better service a.nd to effect economies which may come under their own observa- tion. Mr. Appleton said in reviewing what the system was doing for the Maritime Provinces that this year alone over seven million dollars will be spent for track and structure im- provement in the Atlantic Region.
