vincial Administration. In the mean-
time a bye-election is pending, the
result of which, owing to the close
division between parties, will virtu-
ally decide whether the party in pow-
er shall retain office or give place to
their opponents. Surely, under such
conditions it is of vital importance
to the electorate to know whether
Premier Haszard is, or is not to re-
main at the head of Provincial af-
fairs. _
It is surely important that the el-
ectors of the Second District should
know whether they are voting for or
against a Government, hereafter to
be as it is at present, ably lcd by
Mr. Haszard, or for or against a
Government to be led by some one
of much less ability, weight and in-
fluence than he. Are the electors to
choose between Mr. Haszard and Mr.
Mathieson as leaders, both exceed-
ingly able men, or between Mr. Ma-
thieson and some one wholly un-
known as 0. leader? This is of the
very essence of the situation and the
matter is so vital that, as we have
said, it should not be left for a
single day in doubt.
