"1 OLD TIME SONGS CONVENTION The fifth annual convention of the Womens Institutes comprising of Mt. Stewart, Savage Harbour, Point DeR.ochc, Glcnroy, Donald- Itori, St. Andrews. Cherry Hill. Bli- Patrick's Road, Pisquid East and Auburn was held in Mt. Stewart Hall cn Sept. 9, 1932. A large num- ber of members from six of the In- stitutes attended the first session which was held at 2.30 p.m. The president, Mrs. Montague McKay, presided and on the plat-i form with her were Mrs. Amelia Smith, Mrs, D. J. MacDonald, Mrs. Joseph Barrett and Miss Isabelle Jay. The meeting opened by sing- _ mg the Institute ode followed by` repeating the Creed in unison. The minutes of the 1931 convention were read, adopted and signed. Mrs. Fred MacDonald of Mt. This is the first potato steamer to be loaded in Sou- ris port this season. The above mentioned steamer, formerly the Canadian Sealer, spent a winter in Souris quite a few years ago, when the ice fomied so solid she was unable to leave port until the early spring.
