PRIZES FOR CATTLE, Searcely less successful are Island exhibitors of horned cattle. The four year old shorthora bull shown by George Compton, and the three year old short- horn bull shown by Fredk. Holland, are both objects of general attention. The stocx-raisers of the have beeu strack with the fine points chown by each of them; and, it is said, nave intimated their willingness to give fancy prices for them. But Messrs. Compton and Holland have, very wisely we think, refused to listen to any over- wold s hea rlin; g rams. inves. It is, perhaps, too much the cus- tom of Island farmers to sell off their best stock. If Messrs Compton and Holand had been men of that class, they would not occupy the preud position in the Dominion Exhibitiea which they jo to-day. When their animals were red wot oaly were they each awarded the first prizes in their respective classes, but the judges complimented both of them ery highly, aud said that their animals would stand well in any exhibition in Canada. ‘The Stock Farm exhibit of caitle is also undeubtedly the best in its espective classes. There are hosts of adinirers and their will be lots ef prizes. itis known that the Stock Farm has ‘ first prize for the best herd; and ‘ several other firs: prizes have’ fallen mMmMisgsioners.
