Toward dusk in the evening when nearly all the angl- ers had departed and quiet was restored several who had the pat- ience to wait were rewarded with nice catches. MORELL TOPS From what I can gather the Morell river yielded up the most trout on the opening day blit it was spotty angling and required energy and patience. The Power Dam at Alberton lived up to its reputation and was trout happy as usual. The trout in this dam will slow up in their biting spree. Once the trout population any body of water drops to the point where there is abundant food available for those that are left it requires more skill and coaxing to land them in ones basket. A mumber have expressed alarm over the number of trout taken out of the Alberton dam since opening day but there'll be lots left even after its supposed to be fished out. The status of Service men in rs- spect to angling licen sea and whether or not they are exempt from purchasing same has been raised since the opening day. Dur- ing the war members of the Arm- ed Services were granted hunting and a n gl in g privileges. During peace time they are classed as Government employees in regard to hllnting and iisliiiig. They are liable to prosecution if found hunt- ing or angling without licenses the same as the civilian population who come llndcr the license category.
