     the average salaries of these highly educated, cultured 
     
     men. Rarely can they save even a little to’ provide for

     their very low inco to a Pension Fund. 
     
    

    
     But the fact remains that, after 40' years of service, the 
     
     wary  annual they can hope for from their

     service with this small measure of security for them and 
     
     their dependents. Only by a frank, nation-wide recogni- 
     
     tion of this obligation can the way be cleared for the 
     
    
   
   
    
     moral and cultural fulfilment of the highest aspirations of 
     
     this nation. 
     
    
   
   
    
     How else, indeed, Bur By remembering the material 
     
     needs of these unworldly men, shall the splendid tradi- 
     
     tions of their high calling be actively pursued by new 
     
     generations of young Canadians? How else shall young 
     
     ministers, renouncing all hope of earthly reward, find i_n 
     
     the ministry that assurance of bodily sustenance in old 
     
     age, without which no man can live? 
     
    
   
   
    
     Laymen of the United Church of Canada are voluntarily 
     
     conducting a nation-wide drive for new capital for their 
     
     ministers’ Pension Fund. In a few days volunteer 
     
     canvassers will call upon you. They are your neighbours 
     
     - perhaps your fellow church members — iving their 
     
     time and energy to this worthy cause. Welcomethem.
