On Monday Dr. McKenzie —DIES IN PRINCE COUNTY ‘HOSPITAL-There passed sway in the -Prince County Hospital on In Memoriam IVES J AltfES SMITH Another link with the past was broken on Friday, July 1st, when Elizabeth MacKay, widow of the late James Smith, died at her home in Kensington at the advanced age of eighty-nine years. On Canadas first Dominion Day she was a young married woman of twenty- four, and her memories of the pion- eer days of this Province remained clear and distinct even when events of more recent years had become somewhat hazy in her mind. Mrs. Smith was the last member of one of the old MacKay families of New London and very few of her gener- ation now remain. She is survived by three daughter's, Mrs. Z. J. Mur- ray, of Winnipeg, Mrs. E. V. Vrad- enburg, of Winthrop, Mass, and Mrs. J. G. Townsend, of Kensing- ton. In addition to these, five grandchildren, one great-grand- child, and a large number of rela- tives and friends mourn the loss of one who was very dear to them. Mrs. Smith was a woman whom to know was to love. Children were attracted to her instinctively. Old- er fclk recognized in her a true friend whose hospitality was abundant and whose Christian life and walk was genuine and sincere. The smile, the cheery word, the kind deed, industrious toil-these were her contributions to her day and generation. The funeral was held on Sunday, July 3rd, and the services were con- ducted by her minister, Rev. Mr. Ioring, assisted by Rev. Mr. Spriggs. She was buried in New Iondon Cemetery beside her hus- band, who predeceased her twenty- five years ago. The pail-bearers were George MacLeod, George Mac- Kay, Bert MacKay, A. E. Fyfe, John Fyfe and J. N. Evans. "The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God."
