The little fellow contracted a heavy cold and died after only a few days illness of congestion of the lungs. The funeral was held from Holy Trinity Church, Georgetown, Sunday afternoon at two o'clock and was very largely at- tended. Monday opened with a fair run and buyers insistent for supplies. Prices paid were from $9.65 to $10. per hundred pounds off cars. This compares with $9.40 and $9.75 of last week. At Montreal prices also advanced, selected stock selling at from $7.60 to $7.90 per hundred pounds. 'lhe Agricultural Gazette speaking of the hog situation lon September 14th says: "the tone of the market is very firm at the recent advance and there was a further rise yesterday in the Toronto market of 25c. The demand for dressed hogs continues good with sales of abattoir fresh killed stock at $13.75.” Horses; The horse market continues slow. Army horses are pouring into Toronto for the Imperial Government, but for _commercial trade there is nothing doing. In the American mar- kets there is quite a lot of activity, for the army the French are paying tior light riders $150., for light guniiers from $150 to $160, and for heavy guiiners $180. The British are paying a little bit higher, particularly i`or the heavy guiiiiers. Sheep and Lambs; Lambs recovered the 25c per hundred pounds lost last week. The range paid for the bulk was $8.25 to $8.75 per hundred pounds. Large lots of lambs sold at the top price. Light ewes brought $5.50 to $6.50. Butter; An active trade is doing in butter at Toronto this week. Prices have advanced somewhat. Creamery prints are bringing from 27c to 27%c per pound.
