Each hut cen- stitutes a ward of 24 beds, in charge of a ward master and nursing sister, with orderlies under them. The patients receive every attention. “The following are some of the stores Iam delivering, and will give some ide of what te Red Cross So- ciety supplies, viz. :—Jellies, jams, biscuits, lime juice, patent goods, cus— tard powder, soap, games, books, py- jama suits, socks, pillows, towels, lamps, bandages, surgical dressings, clinical thermometers, Eau de Cotogne, Florida water, toilet vinegar, combs, hair brushes, tooth drushes, beef extract, sponges, fans, mosquito netting, ward tables, ginger ale, soda water, and many othe orticles “The condition of the sick and wounded would be sad indeed if the articles suplied by the Red Cross were withdrawn. ‘the Government _ has never supplied any of them, with per- haps theexception of surgical dressings. The money that is caoled to me I will expend directly for the use of the Yanadian sick and wounded, and for the use of the hospitals, as before stat- ed. Our people canthus be assured that the money is’usefully, properly, and directty applied. There is much need of help ; 3,000 sick and wounded up to this date have been carried on the hospital trains to the Boer hospitals at Wynburg and Ronderbosch {Hundreds | of men are in hospital here, Honey- nest Kloof, Modder, Kimberley, and De Aar. ‘“ IT am much indebted to Cal.
