Key stations in the network. the central analysis bureau at Dorval. will transmit the master chart four times daily to the entire net- work. Regional forecast officers at Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Moncton will, in turn. transmit area charts to air force stations in their terri- tories. Series of Charts The national transmission con- sists of a series of charts that plot the Weather in the form of press- ure patterns and fronts for alti- tudes all the way from sea level to 50,000 feet. They also indicate such information as temperature, wind, velocity and direction, precipita- tion and dew point. , The high altitude plot is valu- able to jet-powered military al.'- craft although the Department of Transport sees future advantage in the facsimile service for com- mercial airlines. At present, suf- ficient rnschines are available for only a limited national network. By the end of November all forecast centres and flying stat- ions will be supplied with Muir- head equipment of British design and manufacture.
