Besides Mr. Lumsd_en’s lecture, there was a good program of music, recltations, etc. At the close a hearty vote ot thanks was tendered Mr. Lunisdeii for his grand address, an. dthe performers for their part of the entertainment, The pro- ceeds are to be used for Red Cross purposes.-T. .JSUNDAY SCHOOL OUTlNG.-- The Sunday School of the Christian Church, Montague, held their annual picnic on the beautiful grounds oi Mr. William McDonald, McDonald's Mills on Wednesday, August 21st. Let us wish them a real good time.-T. ..*ENJOYED OUTING.-Mrs. Har- ry McGregor, Irene McGregor and Mrs. Lester Mellish returned last week from a very enjoyable trip through Nova Scotia. They attended the I. O. 0. F. convention at Kent- ville, having travelled by auto from Picton, calling at the principle towns going to the Valley. The apple crop there is a failure, the frost having killed the bloom early in the season. On return the party came by way of Halifax. where they stayed a day and a night. This city presents a weird ap- pearance at night with almost no lights. While there is a great deal of building going on, the scene of the December disaster is there stretched over acres and acres of ground, a pic- ture never to be forgotten by those who visit that city, for although we have read and seen pictures of the whole affair, no one can possible im agine what it is like, unless you really see it as it is. As one stands there saddened by the sights, one can't help trying to imagine what France must be after four years -of war . in the midst of all that Bhd' the ‘constant disaster- that threatens, citi~ seas are "marrying and giving in mar- riage" much as they were in Old- Tes- tament times.-T. .._..._....__1--- Ask for fllinlrrl ana take no other . |\ * * | BEWAREI. % Two German Spies are known to be operating in this vicinity.
