It may be the luckiest thing that ever happened to DSi @ It seems that there have been some very str- ange decisions made by the Athletic Department this year. One of these concerns the budgets of the volleyball teams. An allotment of $1,000 has been made by the Athletic (Nov. 16-18). It seems Department for volleyball.that one of the coaches However, it seems that almost all of this money is being spent on the Men's Volleyball Team while the Women's Volley- ball Team is being vert- ually ignored from a financial standpoint. The woman's team has been the most successful varsity team on campus this year, having a record of 20-? against the only competionthis trip, one wonders P.E.I. has to offer. Un- fortunately they do not have enough money to enterCadre, any of the Woman's Inter- collegiate tournaments. It is too bad that the Athletic Department can- not see its way clear to finance thewoman's team in at least one intercol- legiate tournament. For instance, on November 27 th AoWQIcAon Tour- ament is being held at King‘s College and the woman's team may not be able to attend, due to a lack of funds. Certainly. in all fairness, the At- hletic Department will do something to rectify this situation, won't they? , One other issue that has caused quite a bit of muttering amongst page 7 those those aware of its existence, was the decis- ion concerning "extra" seats on the chartered plane which took our men's hockey, basketball and volleyball teams to New- foundland last weekend (not mentioning any names) Was allowed to take two of his children along with him on this foray. J At the same‘time, a num- ber of people who have -put in quite a few hours of work with our teams - ‘notably one of the train- ers - were left behind. Since it was the univer- sity that was paying for why this injustice was allowed to occur. The having heard some talk of this develop- ment, sent one of its roving reporters to the Athletic Department offices to make some in- quiries. We had been in- formed that it was Coach "x" who was taking his kids along. When asked if this was the case or not, we received a very defin- ite: "No: Coach "X' is 7, not taking his children." However, what the Athlet- ic Department failed to tell us was that Coach "Y" was taking his child- ren. Thus it came about that Coach "Y", his children and the Athletic Department lived-happily, ever after.
