Dredge No. 25 of the Dept. of Public Works arrived at Savage Harbour over the week end. This dredge under the command of Freeman Webster of Marie. was operating at Malpeque prior to coming here. She was towed to Savage Harbour by five motor hosts one of which was the fishery patrol boat owned and under the command of Mr. Wendall Glover of Mt. Stewart with Mr.. John Watts of Tracadic as engineer The trip was made in ten hours. The regular tug that attended to dredge No. 25 fell a. victim to the raging roaring Edna. The engineer of the lost tug was the wellgknown. . James Arnold, but it is finders od that Mr. Arnold was not with the tug at the time she was lost. The large suction dredge No. l2 which has been operating in Northern New Brunswick waters is expected to arrive at Savage Harbour very soon and will open a channel to and through the new harbour. Dredge No. 25 was brought here for fear the larger craft might meet with difficulties before reaching the site where she is to operate. Fisher- men are more than happy that this honest concentrated effort is being made to make the new harbour a real harbour. The many friends of little Leon- ard Gunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gunn, Savage Harbour will be sorry to learn that he is con- t-lned to his home through illness. All join in the sincere hope that this pleasant little chap will soon be restored to his usual good health. The crib work being built at Sav- age Harbour in an endeavour to divert the course of water from the old harbour to the new hur- bour is progressing favorably under the skilled foremanshlp of Mr. Parker Lund of Charlottetown. This project starting at Gull Is- land continues towards the Mac- Phee shore for a distance of some -150 yards. Associated with Mr. Lund in the work are Messrs. William Gunn, Lester Gunn. Joseph S. MacKay, Richard Doyle and J. D. MacDonald. Mr. Art Mitchell is in charge of the bulldoser while Mr. Oliver Smith is host tender. The lumber for the project is being sup- plied by Mr. Russel Msclntyre of Mt. Stewart. it will take from. four to six weeks from the present to finish the job. The large sell powered combine which arrived at Savage Harbour early in the week is the centre of much attention. This fine modern machine is owned by Mr. Vessey oi Pcake's and will complete the her- vesting on the farm of Mr. Fulton Douglas. z'u"”.u sf: i'i.'e'l catch is being -63.
