CORRUPTION- NEW YORK, Feb. 3.-The confes- sion of a patrolman to-day gave the District Attorney the long sought in- strument by which he expects to un- cover corruption in the New York police department. The investiga- tion 'of alleged graft among the po- lice was aided by Patrolman Eu- gene F. Fox. On the first day oi his trial for bribery, Fox suddenly chang- ed his plea and acknowledged his guilt. The patrolman was indicted for tak- ing protection money from a Raines- law Hotel. After he pleaded guilty it was said that he gave the District Attorney facts that may lend to the indictment ot two important mem- bers of the police department. Fox will testify before the extraordinary grand jury next Monday.
