At no great distance from the Falls is situate the Lunatic Asylum, an institution worth of the name, and ably conducted by Dr. and re. add I. a were shown through the principal portion of the building, which we found kept in perfect order and with scru u- lous cleanliness. Every convenience is prov_i ed in the building for ii. large number of patients —workhouees, bath room, &c., properly fur- nished with every requisite—a small steu_in-en- gine in the cellar pumps water into the highest rooms, a moderately sized farm is attached to the remises, where many of the patients are em eyed in useful labour and everything seems to e conducted with admirable skill and lore- thought. The sooner of the river St. John from the front of the uilding is ver line, and seen as it was by us under abeuutifu sunshine, it has left a deep impression on our mind of the exquisitenese of the view.
