from the convent to the church.
A solemn high mass of requiem

A large number of friends will
be sorry to hear of the death of
one of West Devon's highly res-
pected eitlzens. We refer to Mrs.
Henry Culleton. She was taken
ill on Thursday, and found to be
suffering from an attack of ap-
pendicitis. was rushed to the Prince
County Hospital Friday morning,
where she died Friday night. There
are left to mourn, besides the sor-
rowing husband, two daughters and
two sous, Mrs. William Ellis, 0'-
Leary; Miss Lila, RN.: Raymond
and Arnold at home. Much sym-
pathy goes out to the relatives in
their sad bereavement.
TIIEFT OF S190 REPORTED -
The theft of $190.00 from a cash
box in Mr. Eugene Kelly's store on
Spring Park Road was reported
yesterday. The theft was believed to
have taken place last Thursday or
Friday. It was discovered by Mr.
Kelly Friday moming when he op-
ened the box which he had taken
upstairs with him the previous
night. The cash box was not kept
in the money till but in another
part of the store which led to the
belief that those responsible for the
theft. were thoroughly familiar with
the layout of the building. City po-
lice working on the case had been
unable to unearth any clue Chief
of Police Blrtwlstle said last night.
The only time the money could
have been taken was when Mr.
Kelly was momentarily absent ln
his dwelling which admins the
store it was stated.

McCourt had enjoyed good health
all his life time until about a couple
of weeks previous to his death when
he was taken sudddenly ill and de-
spite the best of medical skill and
tender nursing he passed peacefully

Prince Edward Island. and went to
the West in 1004 and settled iii
Winnipeg. In 1924 he vzslted his
Island home for a short visit and
then returned to Winnipeg.
He was buried in St. Marys Cem-

On Sunday, December 27th, 1938
in the early hour of 1.30 a. m. there
passed peacefully away. at her home
Mary Jane McRae at the age of 80
years. She was the eldest daughter
of the late Farquhar and Mrs. Mc-
Rae. (noe Isabella Ma/:Millan of
New Gia gow Road, P. E. I) and
then she lived practically all her
lifi on the old homestead.
There passed peacefully away on
January 30th 1937 at her home in
Peekes Road Mrs. Peter Finlayson
in her. 77th year. Although in
delicate health for the past few
years and despite all that medical
aid and klnd nursing co`uld do. she
calmy and peaoefully passed away
on January 30th.. to be .with her
Bavlour whom she loved and

The death occurred on Monday,
February sth, of Mr. Joscph Poiri-
er, 9. life-long resident of St. Nich-
olas at. 70 years of age following an
attack of pneumonia. The deceas-
ed was most highly esteemed in

-The regular monthly meeting of
the board of management of the
Children’s Aid Society was held in
the Town Hall. Tuesday evening.
In the absence of the president the
vice.president, Rev. J. Wilson pre-
sided. The agent and truant offl-

stated that during the last month
he found thirty-four children ab-
sent from school through sickness;
twelve from lack of clothing;
twenty absent on various excuses,
such as they did not get up in time
to go to school, etc.. and three

one of its most highly respected
citizens. Mr. Wright was 88 years

Bedeque. Mr. Wright took up farm-
land in Cape Traverse and became
