Actually, we are struggling feverously in order to just get this first issue out. Most of the staff are still on vacation, and those that are not, are running around the office ina state of general confusion. Many of the staff members are new to the paper, including myself, so we are relying on the sainthood of some former staff members to hold our hands and guide us along. When we entered the X-Press office for the first time his summer, we were confronted by a huge, errifying beast. This beast loomed in the office, 1idden in the dark corners with the junk that had iccumulated there. That beast turned out to be even carier than we had expected. It was the computer we yurchased a month earlier. We purchased this new ;omputer system in order to bring us to the forefront )f the most modern technology in the newspaper jusiness, but unfortunately our minds seemed to be ‘levated only to the technological level of the nechanical pencil. To tell the truth, some of us had rouble even turning the beast on. After many jrucling hours of practice and numerous blessings rom our tour guide, we think we finally have this yeast mastered (at least that is what we keep telling yurselves), (es, we are still the ‘‘X-Press’’: we are still in the nagazine format (contrary to many rumors) and we tillhave much of the same contents as we had reviously. If you read through this issue you will ce some introduction to a few of the features we will je having in the X-Press every week, but with the keleton crew we had, and the difficulty in reaching eople who were enjoying some rest and relaxation, ve were unable to give a good look at what is to ome. You will just have to look in our next issue September 19th) to see for yourself. [fanybody has ny ideas for features they would like to see in this ‘ears paper, just drop us a line in the bottom floor of sarily reflect those of the staff of this publication, or are new here) or better yet, join us here each week for our staff pizza party, its free. There has also been some changes in the paper this year including anew cover format that will hopfully help everyboby to recognize the paper and to aid some of the slower students to realize what the name of their paper really is. In all seriousness, I would like to welcome everybody to our humble paper and give a very special thank you to Kristine Suzuki, last year’s editor, who helped the paper take anew and brighter course, one in which I am glad to follow anda very special THANK YOU to Saint Jim McGrath, who without, we would still be too scared to go near that dark beast that loomed in the corner. Your many hours of help are truly appreciated. We all hope this paper is everything you want it to be and if it is not, just tell us and we will do our best to improve. Oh, by the way, welcome back. oy Longe Cory Large Editor Main (that is the building on the cover, in case you
