-KNOW- YOUR BIBLE = Resurrection facts . After reading “Resurrection Views Given by Mederater™ im the April 24th issue of the Guardian I am constrained to present a few facts which everyone ought to knew. . The Bible is the only source of information on the resurrection. It gives us the divinely inspired account of these whe were “eyewitnesses”. We have no t reason te doubt these “‘witnesses cee of God”. They agree in all - impertant fact and in no way contradict one another. The minor details given by one, and omitted by-‘another are net contradictory, but complimentary facts, .as any honest in- vestigation will prove. The Bodily Resurrection of Christ was prophesied in the Old Testament. (Psalms 16:10; Acts 2:22-32). Christ foretold his bedily resurrection. 21). : It was a body, not a spirit, that was missing from the tomb. (Luke 24:3). It was in a bady that the Lord Jesus appeared to his disciples and said, ‘Behold my hands and my feet, that it is 1 myself: handle me and see: fora spirit hath not flesh and benes. as ve see me hate’’. ‘(Luke 24:39). Over 500 persons saw him at ene time. They’ did not all have an identical trance at the same time and place. (I Corinthians 15:6). The Bodily resurrection: of Christ was absolutely neces- sary: in order for him to conquer death. Death claimed his ‘bed¥. but he came forth into life vicorious ever death. and i “hath _brouht life and immortality to light through the gospel”. (2 Timothy 1:10). tmmortality refers onty—to—the bedy, not the soul or spirit. -If Christ had not risen bedily we weuld not have a Saviour from the power. of sin and death. (1 Cor. 15:14-19). 5 Christ-had-ta—rise—hodils_in_erder to he the ‘‘first fruits” (er first sample) of the resurrectian of his saints to follow. (1 Cor. 15:12-23). Fer Matthew declares. “many of the bedies ‘of the saints arese and came out of the graves after His resurrection... and appeared unto many > (Matthew 27: 52. 53). Christ’s redemption of the sinner includes his body. (Romans %:18-23). Since we do not bury spirits how can they have a resurrection? Saving faith in Christ invelwes faith in his bedily resur- rection according te the Scriptures. It is part of the gospel which one must helieve in order to he saved. (I Cor. 15: 1-4: Remans 19:9. 19). We are called upon to repent of -our sins and put our faith in a Christ revealed in the Scriptures. and not a Christ of our own imagination, if we would he” * saved. re It is not scholarlyte deny any Scriptural truth. and cer- tainly net Christian. It is simply ignorance. or infideStv and unbelief. All Bible believing people must declare them- selves. and act an the clear command of God's Word. “Be “St. John 2:19 , net unecually voked together with unbelievers.” (2 Corin- thians 6:14-18: and Revelation 18:4). RAMSEY It has been said that the Ife of Saul. was the first of the “Greek tragedies, for here was a man with great spiritual, intellectual and social assets; and few liabilities. Yet. he was so enslaved by willfylness and jealousy these liabilities render- ed his’assets impotent. Saul -took his first steps to- ward ultimate disaster on the eve of a great: battle with the Israelites’ traditional enimies, the Philistines. Samuel. the man and voice of God in Israel at the time, had given Saul ex- plicit command to await his ar- lous speed of a B-58 bomber. He contrasted this accomplishment with the experi Se Oe ee and then rode a bicycle into town im time to see the plane circling the cap- itol building. it seems incredible the technological advances mankind has made in fifty years. Men who rode to Sunday School by horse and buggy as boys, today follow the flight of astronauts on TV. Their wives do the family laundry with the twist of a dial, and their grandchildren learn —_— from programmed text- books. One unchanging fact remains. Man still needs God as the center and cireum- ference of his life. And the Church, as God’s expression, remains constant im the teaching of His Truths. Onprvight 1965 Keister Adme-tiring Bervica.
