E. C. mans in the chair and the secretary, Mr. P23. Gamble, at the deck. The Iollnw-ing Minnistcira were also present: Rev. T. H. B. semen. Rev. J. D. Davison. Rev. J.'I'. Ir- win, Rev. W. E. Sproule. Rev. Harvey Bishop. Rev. A. E. Piercey, Rev. Henry Barber. and Rev. M.D. Dunbar. The minutes of the February meeting were read by the secre- tary and announcement was made of the institution of a series of lectures for church School teach- ers on successive Monday evenings given under the direction of the association by Dr. Lloyd Shaw of the Department of Education. These will be held as follows: March 16th. S. Paul's Church; March 23rd, Zion Church; March 30th, Trinity Church. The lectures are given at eight o'clock and are open to all Sunday School teach- ers and interested friends. The treasurer. Rev. T.H.B. Som- eis. reported that he had sent the gifts voted last. month to the RE. I. Hospital. the Protestant Orph- anaze, the Charlottetown Branch of the Bible Society, the Canad- ian Council of Churches and the World's Evangelical Alliance in Lorirlon. England. Arrangements were made for services at the Sanairmiiim, the Orphanage, the Jail. Falconwood Hospital, the In- nrmary and Beach Grove Inn and new names were secured for radio broadcasting nl "Morning Devo- tions", After cars.-iiil consideration olail angles involved the Asociation de- cided to make a change this year in the Good Friday service in Zion Church by holding it at 3.30 o'clock and having it last apvproximateiy one hour or so with a single ser- mon rather than a service of three hours and seven addresses. Ar- rangements are to be made by a committee consisting of Rev. E. C. Evans. Rev. J. T. Irwin. Rev. G. C. Webster and Mr. F. B. Gamble. Meeting Of Parents And Sunday School Teachers. A well attended Parent-Sunday School Teacher meeting was held on Tuesday evening in I-Ieartz Hall with Dr. 1.. W. Shaw presiding. The main discussion centered around the fact that a chld spends but four hours in church as com- pared with 120 hours in school and 596 hours in the home per month. so that parents are the first and main teachers. The great empha- sis today on material things is a grave threat to the Christian way or life. At the same tme parents are faced with the great problem oi presenting Christianity with its abiding truths in terms which will meet the needs and nterests of to- day's Youth. To meet this need the United Church or Canada is at present developing I Christian Family Lite Program. The material has been drawn from many areas of child development. It is packaged accord- ing to the dfterent age groups - pi-e-school, school and teen-age. These practical packets were on display and for sale. In presenting the Christian Family Life Literature 21 very help- ful film was shown illustrating some of the probems of raising a family. Later a panel consisting of a minister, teacher, mother and father-Rev. J. T. Irwin. Mrs. stan- ley Thompson, Mrs. J. P. Lantz and Dr. M. 1. Lowrie discussed their reaction to the fim. Following this the audience broke up in buzz groups according to the ages of their children. Then they discussed the contents of the pack- ets. Discussion leaders of the buzz groups were Primary, Mrs. A. V. The paper for the month was de- livered by Rev. Henry Barber of North River Baptist Church and dealt in a most masterly and un- derstanding iashion with the sub- is” of "Christian Conversion". A most worthwhile discussion ioilni1-- ed and Mr. Barber was warmly thanked. FIRE CALLS - The city fire- men had four calls yesterday, none at which developed into anything serious. At 9:15 am. they re- sponded to a call at 46 Upper Hills- boro Street. caused by s. flue fire which did not cause damage. At 2:06 pm. a grass fire at Parkdalc threatened a barn and a garage besides damaging a. pile of lumber. While the Parkdale fire was en- gaging their attention, a. call at 2:20 pm. was also lcsponded to for a fire in the furnace room at the Qiir Strcr Garage. Dense clouds of smoke from burning oil caused damage throughout the building. Another grass fire occurred at Parkdalc at 3:35 pm. not for from the school grounds. This time the Parkdale fire unit. was on hand with two streams of water, which combined with the city equipment quickly subdued the blaze which had extended over a considerable area.
