Deep ruts and trenches t throughout, and people who utterly impassat are prevalen are travelling after nightfall are in immi~ i nent danger of being thrown from their vehicles and sustaining severe irjuries. We may now ask arethe people of the conntry to blame for having such roads? Weall answer, no. Who, then, is to blaine? The question is simple and easily When Peters, the late Premier, and Cummiskey, his colleague, were res turned they promised to put the country “up in G.” Now we find it away down toB flat—excuse the musica] terms. It is now the people—Liberal jpoople I mean—are getting their eyes opened, and no wonder. If some more men like the late Premier would make promises and not fulfil them, then take a sneak to a foreign clime, we would bave aclear country in the near fature. As for doing good to the country, they cannot do, nor can we expect, any good while a tyrannical Government pre~ vails. Let us hope that at the next election all honest men will cast their votes for the Conservative party, so that peace, happiness and prosperity will reiga throughout the country. A very enthusiastic meeting was held at Little York last night to discuss the pro- hibition question. The beautiful little hall was crowded with ladies and gentlemen, evidently interested inthe coming plebis- cite. The Rev R Opie presided with his usual dignity, and Mrs Opie and a choice choir rendered some excellent music. The first speaker was Premier Far- quharson, who delivered @ very racy and interesting sddress, showing the import- ance of the movement und need for « full vote on the question. D A McKinnon, ML A, wasthe next speaker, and dealt with the common sense and the financial sides of the ques- tion. The next speaker wasthe Rev W J Kirby, of Charlottetown, who dealt with tne three questions (1) Why am I in this fight for prohibition? (2) Why are rum< sellers in the liquor business? (3) Why are church members in this business ? Each point was illustrated and evidently enjoyed by the congregation. After a few questions had been asked by members of the andience, the meeting closed with the National Anthem. The prospects are for a full vete for pro- hibition in thia section, and there are not likely to be many who vote “no,” or who stay at home on the 29th. HOTEL ARRIVALS.
