says: Andrew Dunlap of Middle Haines-
ville, nas purchased from John Rich-
ards, of Summsrside, P. E. I., the
handsome draft stallion, Woodburn.
The animal arrived here by boat Wed-
nesday and is now at Long’s hotel
stables. Woodburn is a pure bred
Clydesdale. stands 17 bands high and
weighs when in condition 1850 pounds
He is one of .he heaviest as well as one
of the best bred horses ever brought to
the province.
AT the First Methodist Church yester-
day morning Rev. Gr. F. Dawson,of
Cornwall, preached a very forcible
sermon, taking for his text lst Cor..
6-20. In the evening Rev. G. M.
Campbell, after the usual discourse,
made special reference to the death of
the late Judge Alley, remarking that
numbers of people at the church doors
where he had ohiciated in the morning
and afternoon, had received the news of
his death with tears. He recalled the
fact that precisely two years ago the
Judge was received into membership in
the church, and partook of his drst com-
munion. At the close of the service
Prof. Vgatts played the Dead March.
THE -morning service in St. James’
Church yesterday was somewhat of a
memorial service. occasioned by the sad
intelligence lately received, announcing
the death of Rev. Dr. Thos. Duncan,
who, for twenty years, ministered to
the spiritual wants of St. James’ con-
gregation. Rev. T. F. Fullerton, the
present pastor, preached from the
words, "He being dead yet speaketh,”
taken from Heb. 11:4. The sermon
was a masterly effort, and one that will
long be remembered by the members of
St. James’, many beingdeeply affected
bythe 'tender and loving reference io
the life and work of the deceased clergy-
man. As a fitting close to the impres-
sive service the organist' played Bee-
t|hoven’s beautiful funeral march.

ness preached in Grace Church yester-
day by Rev. William Dobson of Hali-
fax. Many from other congregations
joined with the regular attendants filled
every available seat. The morning:

might know Thee, the only true God
and Jesus Christ Whom Thou hast
sent,” coupled with the central thought
in Genesis 1:25-31 “So God created
man in His own image,” &c. The
evening discourse was from Johnl
and Jesus in the midst.”

loving remembrance. Prominent
among those whose life was associated
with the growth of Presbyterianism in
Richmond Bay congregation. East and
West, for the past half a cenrury was
Alexander Ramsay, who departed this
life, at his home, 'Ivne Valley, on we r,
25th inst . at the advanced age of 93°
years. Blessed with a strong consti-
tution which he consecrated to the ser-
vice of the Master, he retained his vig-
or of body and mind to _an iinusu ily r
advanced period of life. His father
emigrated from Kantire, Scotland, to
Malpeqne. After remaining mere ’ a
while he went to the Un t d :5tlt_s and
served in the Revolutionary war. At
its close he returned to the Island, got
married and settled at Cape. Lot 16,
Mrs Gordon, the_inot.ier of the two
Missionaries whose blood was sued on
Eromanga was his daughter,a sister of
the deceased. During the pastorate of.
